Terms of service
These terms govern your use of the Kowope Business app and website. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them.
What Kowope Business is
Kowope Business is a bookkeeping tool. It helps you record credit you choose to extend to your own customers, record cash sales, and track stock by product — including across more than one Location if you run several shops.
Kowope is not a lender, a bank, or a credit bureau. We do not issue loans, and we do not collect debts on your behalf. Credit decisions and repayment arrangements are between you and your customers.
Your account
You sign in with a phone number and a one-time code. You are responsible for keeping access to your phone safe, because that is how your account is protected.
Your records can include details about your customers (names and phone numbers on credit or cash sales), your staff (Shopkeepers you invite), and your Locations and products. Your customers and Shopkeepers do not use the app on your behalf and have not agreed to these terms, so you are responsible for recording their details lawfully and for how you use staff access.
Free features and what a plan adds
Recording, viewing your records, and exporting your data are free, and they work without mobile data. Once you verify your phone number, we also hold a copy of your records on our servers. That happens on every account and does not depend on paying us, as our privacy policy explains.
The paid feature is moving your records to a new phone and inviting up to 3 Shopkeepers. A plan lets you put your ledger on a replacement phone and add staff; without one, you can get your records back on this phone only.
Subscriptions are sold through Google Play, which handles the payment. You can see the price before you subscribe, and you can manage or cancel your subscription in your Google Play subscription settings.
Acceptable use
You must not:
- use the app for anything unlawful
- record data you have no lawful reason to hold
- try to access another person's account or data
- interfere with the service or use it to harm it
We may suspend or end an account that breaks these rules or puts the service or other users at risk, including for suspected fraud.
Your data
Our privacy policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and how long we keep it. You can delete your account at any time from inside the app, as described on our delete your account page.
Service availability
We work hard to keep the service available and the copy of your records safe, but we cannot promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Recording works offline and your phone keeps its own copy, so a service problem never blocks you from using your records on that phone.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Kowope is not liable for losses that come from credit decisions, customer disputes, or repayments, or for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The effective date at the top shows when this version took effect. Significant changes to how the service works will be announced in the app.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
